Random cuteness

Jasper has started smiling a lot - real smiles too, not just gas. So far his smiles are proving difficult to capture on camera, but we will persevere. Until then, enjoy some recent cute pictures.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy first Father's Day Paul! We celebrated by going out to breakfast and Jasper "bought" his daddy a rocketship kit that they can put together when he's older. Jasper is very lucky to have you for a dad. We love you!!

One Month Old!

Happy One Month-aversary Jasper! It's already hard to remember life without our little bug. We celebrated with Dutch pancakes and French champagne. I vote we make this a monthly tradition.

Oma & Opa

We are enjoying our visit with Jasper's grandparents very much - so far they have cleaned the front garden and back yard, cooked several meals and folded and ironed Paul's laundry. Maybe we can convince them to move to San Francisco. My goal is for Jan to change a poopy diaper before the end of their visit.

Bath time

Now that Jasper's bellybutton is healed (incidentally, it is the cutest bellybutton ever!) it was time for his first real bath. Did he enjoy it? Well, you can be the judge of that. I know it looks like he was being boiled alive, but the water was really not that hot. He can be a bit dramatic sometimes.

Daddy's little boy - CORRECTION!

It turns out this is actually a picture of Uncle Erik as a baby - he fooled us! There is obviously a strong Hardenbol influence in Jasper's gene pool. We'll have to get ahold of Paul's baby pictures for comparison. Well, I think this settles the question of who Jasper looks like. Uncle Erik sent the black and white photo below - I stared at it wondering where this picture of my son came from. Then I realized it was a picture of Johanna with baby Paul! Compare to the picture of Jasper yawning. Case closed.

Dinner out with the bug

One of the things we like best about living in San Francisco is the variety of amazing restaurants. We introduced Jasper to our local favorite, Universal Cafe, just two blocks from home. While mom and dad enjoyed steak, lamb, chocolate cake and wine, Jasper very obligingly slept in his car seat. Thanks bug, we owe you one!
